Santiago-based television station receives call criticising coverage, warning of a bomb
Incident details
television station(s) harassedA special operations unit of the national police was mobilised in response to the call; staff was evacuated and the street was closed off where the station is located, in the neighbourhood of Providencia in the nation's capital, Santiago.
Press reports indicate that the caller criticised the television station's editorial line and referred to the upcoming "day of the young combatant", celebrated on 29 March to commemorate the kidnapping and killing of two youths by police during the period of the dictatorship. On the anniversary of the killing, protests that frequently turn violent are held on university campuses and on the outskirts of the city.
The police found no evidence of a bomb.
